Welcome Wednesday Update

Dear Stillmeadow Family,

Advent is when we celebrate Jesus’ first coming and look ahead to his second coming through the season. We’ll have advent scripture readings through the season in our worship services and will have daily advent scripture readings for each week.

If you have a family member from 0 years old to 5th grade, you are invited to join the Children's Ministry Family Advent Experience at 11AM in the Carpeted Gym of our Stillmeadow Lane Campus.

CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AS THE CHURCH FAMILY ON DEC 9

Our kids ministry is partnering with worship ministries to present a musical worship experience. We’ll worship together in the Family Life Center at 9:30 as a church family with the kids and worship team!

CONGRATS TO NOVEMBER’S PINEAPPLE AWARD WINNER!

So, for this Welcome Year, we are giving out the “Pineapple Award” to various members of our congregation who have modeled God’s hospitality for us. We have a church community loaded with folks who find ways to make others feel welcome.  This month we gave out two pineapples!  First, to Suzette Caban for the gracious way she leads our Fresh  Blessings food distribution ministry every other Tuesday. Second, to the Montgomery Family (Chris, Andrea, Jacob and Tyler) for being the kind of family who regularly brings others along with them to church.

HAVE YOU TAKEN THE WELCOME YEAR CHALLENGE?

There are three ways you are invited to be involved in the Welcome Year. We’d love to see many Stillnaz peeps joining in the Welcome Movement. If you’re like most, you may find it helpful to choose a partner to do the following with.

  1. 10:02 Prayers. Set your alarm for 10:02 (AM or PM) and follow Jesus’s direction in Luke 10:02 to see that the harvest is plentiful and to pray for the Lord to send out workers.

  2. Welcome Walk Wednesdays. Take time on Wednesday’s to walk through your neighborhood and pray for your neighbors. We encourage you to fast on that day too! If you can’t give up food, consider social media, sugary foods, or something else.

  3. The 3 Minute Challenge. Take the last three minutes before worship (or small group or a business meeting or class) and the first three minutes after worship to reach out to somebody you are less familiar with and extend welcome to them.

MID-ATLANTIC DISTRICT NOMINATIONS

We get to be a part of an incredible family in the Church of the Nazarene. As part of being in that family we get to help in the leadership process through nominating names to serve in various ways around our district. 2019 District Nominations are now open and you can submit your nominations here until January 10: www.manaz.org.

CHRIST THE KING SUNDAY BLESSING

May you have the vision of Daniel to see that the ancient one is on the throne and the beasts have been destroyed and that rescue is coming! May you have the courage of Christ to resist the beasts and face your fears. May you live in such a way that others will see Jesus’ kingdom life in yours!
