Welcome Wednesday Update
Happy Wednesday Friends!
Wow! We're halfway through August. As you bustle about through the final days of summer, may your spirit be sensitive to availability of God's grace, soft to the needs of others; may your heart be courageous in compassion.
And now...here are a couple things to highlight!
BLESSING THE BACKPACKS
In our 9:30 service at the 400 Stillmeadow Lane Campus, we will have a time to pray for the children and teens and teachers and school administrators heading back to school! So, we're inviting students to wear their backpacks.
YOU VOLUNTEER? THAT'S AWESOME! CELEBRATE WITH US ON AUGUST 26
We are calling all those who volunteer in some way at Stillmeadow to gather on August 26 (from 4:30-6:30) for a Volunteer Celebration Potluck. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org and sign up for a food dish on www.PerfectPotluck.com/SURC1741.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE BAPTIZED? WE'RE BAPTIZING ON SEPT 9
Have you committed your life to Christ and want to show the world? Baptism is a powerful symbol of a powerful reality: Christians are people whose past sins have been washed away through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross (1 Peter 3:21); not only this, but baptism symbolizes that Christians get "dunked" to symbolize that they are burying their old selves in Christ and get "pulled out" of the water to symbolize that they are allowing Christ to raise His life through them (Colossians 2:12). So, we're having baptisms as part of our Welcome Bash on September 9. If you'd like to be baptized, sign up here: www.stillnaz.com/baptism.
WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW...IS UNITY UNDER CHRIST
Backbiting, gossip, infidelity, hostility and bitterness seem to dominate the world; but in Christ we have been created to be His workmanship to do good works (Eph 2:10)! So, we're taking 7 weeks to look at Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Will you pray for unity within Stillmeadow? Will you commit to putting Christ's purpose before your own preferences and pleasures? Catch up on our sermons and use our reading plan available on our sermon blog: www.stillnaz.com/sermon-blog.
THIS WEEK'S BLESSING...
Pastor Steve ended the message with the blessing from Hebrews 13:20-21 "Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."
