Welcome Wednesday Update
Happy Wednesday Friends!
It's our weekly update!
BATTLE YOUR HURTS, HABITS AND HANGUPS WITH CELEBRATE RECOVERY
Every Wednesday night from 5:30-7 (is this the correct timing?) at our York City Campus we have a gathering of men and women who are committed to overcoming their hurts, habits and hang-ups with Christ. Join us this Wednesday or take time to pray for those who do.
CONGRATS TO JULY’S PINEAPPLE AWARD WINNER!
So, for this Welcome Year, we are giving out the “Pineapple Award” to various members of our congregation who have modeled God’s hospitality for us. We have a church community loaded with folks who find ways to make others feel welcome. So, if you wonder why you don’t get this award, remember, God sees you and what you’re doing matters! This month's recipient is someone who has allowed her story of God’s rescue and recovery to welcome others into God’s story of rescue and recovery. Through her ministry with Celebrate Recovery and Journey House, this woman of faith has modeled Christ’s heart for the hurting. We are grateful to honor Roxanne Byrd!
WELCOME YEAR CHALLENGE
There are three ways we are inviting you to become involved in the Welcome Year. We’d love to see as many Stillnaz peeps joining in the Welcome Movement. If you’re like most, you may find it helpful to choose a partner to do the following with.
1. 10:02 Prayers. Set your alarm for 10:02 (AM or PM) and follow Jesus’s direction in Luke 10:02 to see that the harvest is plentiful and to pray for the Lord to send out workers.
2. Welcome Walk Wednesdays. Take time on Wednesday’s to walk through your neighborhood and pray for your neighbors. We encourage you to fast on that day too! If you can’t give up food, consider social media, sugary foods, or something else.
3. The 3 Minute Challenge. Take the last three minutes before worship (or small group or a business meeting or class) and the first three minutes after worship to reach out to somebody you are less familiar with and extend welcome to them.
UNITY UNDER CHRIST IS OUR HOPE
We live in a world whose headlines are loaded with hostility, but we are called by God to be a people who live out headlines of hope. So, starting with this past Sunday, we are doing a 7 week study of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. We want to be a people shaped by the fierce reconciling hope of Christ’s good news rather than the feckless hateful hostility of the world’s news. So, let’s pray for and prepare for that to happen among us at Stillmeadow and in York. Join us on Sunday’s or catch up on our sermon blog: www.stillnaz.com/sermon-blog.
GET READY FOR THE ELDER KLEINFELD'S
So, I'm blessed to have parents who serve as missionaries in Cambodia. And we'll be blessed as a church when they join us on July 29 to share about their work there. We hope you can join us that Sunday so that you can hear about God's work in the church of the Nazarene throughout the land of Cambodia. If you want to catch up on their work ahead of time: https://bit.ly/2mbfiDO. If you want to give to their work: https://give.nazarene.org/donate/f/130191
LAST CALL FOR KIDS CAMP REGISTRATIONS!
Would you pray for our teens going to camp the week of July 23-27? Also, would you pray for the kids going to camp on August 6-10? There is still time to register for Kids Camp (open to 2nd-6th grades). Register your child by July 23 here: http://manaz.org/childrens-ministry.
THIS WEEK'S BLESSING...
Sunday's message (insert YouTube link here) ended with this blessing:
May we “make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit – just as you were called to one hope when you were called – one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all through all in all.” May we live out His dream in every part of York County and around the world!
