Welcome Wednesday Update

Happy Wednesday Friends!

ELOISE DUBS IS OUR SEPTEMBER PINEAPPLE AWARD WINNER!

So, for this Welcome Year, we are giving out the “Pineapple Award” to various members of our congregation who have modeled God’s hospitality for us. We have a church community loaded with folks who find ways to make others feel welcome.  This month's recipient is someone who has repeatedly allowed God to use her to encourage and welcome others through her words. She is 91 years young and has been following Jesus and sharing His love with others for the past 70+ years.  We are grateful for the great Eloise Dubs and pray that we all could be as kind and gracious as she!

 WELCOME YEAR CHALLENGE

There are three ways we are inviting you to become involved in the Welcome Year. We’d love to see as many Stillnaz peeps joining in the Welcome Movement. If you’re like most, you may find it helpful to choose a partner to do the following with.

  1. 10:02 Prayers. Set your alarm for 10:02 (AM or PM) and follow Jesus’s direction in Luke 10:02 to see that the harvest is plentiful and to pray for the Lord to send out workers.

  2. Welcome Walk Wednesdays. Take time on Wednesday’s to walk through your neighborhood and pray for your neighbors. We encourage you to fast on that day too! If you can’t give up food, consider social media, sugary foods, or something else.

  3. The 3 Minute Challenge. Take the last three minutes before worship (or small group or a business meeting or class) and the first three minutes after worship to reach out to somebody you are less familiar with and extend welcome to them.

Also, keep praying the "Stand Tall in Prayer, Ya'll” list: www.stillnaz.com/prayer

ARE YOU TRYING TO BE A DISCIPLE WITHOUT A COMMUNITY?

We have discipleship groups for all people at Stillmeadow, because we believe that we need to learn about Christ together and to grow in Him in the context of small group relationships. We have some new groups, including a new Tuesday night women's group starting in October and a Sunday morning 11AM class on leadership led by Pastor Ray Stark. Check out www.stillnaz.com/discipleship/ to find groups to connect with!

 JOIN GOD’S GLOBAL MISSION BY…

  1. Praying for and preparing for Jonathan Phillips’ October 7th visit. He is a missionary serving in Romania and will join us in both of our services (9:30 at Stillmeadow Lane, 11:00 at Chestnut Street).  You can support his work by eating lunch with him at West York Hoss’ that afternoon! We’ll also be taking a special offering that day. Check out what’s happening in Romania here: http://romanianazarene.blogspot.com/2018/09/video-church-of-nazarene-in-romania.html.

  2. Going to the Jamaican Dinner and Silent Auction on Sept 29? The dinner will feature Jamaican food and the funds raised will support the team traveling to serve in Jamaica in January 2019. This Sunday, September 23rd is the last day tickets for this event will be available.  You can get your ticket at the Information Desk.

  3. Bringing in an alabaster offering on Sept 30.  Alabaster Offering provides funds for the purchase of land and construction of churches, schools, medical facilities and homes for missionaries.

THIS WEEK'S BLESSING FROM PASTOR KATHY WRIGHT

Psalm 19:14 says,
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O LORD, my rock and my redeemer.
And so….As you begin this week and forward,
May you surrender your tongue to Jesus Christ,
May you be quick to listen, Slow to speak, Slow to become angry, Refuse to tear others down, and Quick to forgive
So that those around you will learn of the love and grace of God.
