Call to Worship: Psalm 47
Reflection Questions:
Start your reflection by reading Psalm 47 aloud and imagining every nation assembled around God.
Read Esther 3:1-11. How do you see pride and vanity at work in Xerxes and Haman?
Read Esther 4:6-16. How do you see courage and faith at work in Mordecai and Esther?
Henrietta Mears says: Although God’s name is not mentioned in the book of Esther, every page is full of God, who hides Himself behind every word. How do you see God’s work in Esther 9:20-28?
In the story of Esther, God reverses the efforts of evil men to save his people. In the story of Jesus, God reverses the efforts of evil men to save all people. Read 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 to explore how God used the cross.
What is God drawing your heart’s attention to in the story of Esther and the story of his Son’s death on the cross?
Is there a circumstance in your own life where you can look back and see God’s redemptive work only after the story?
Close in prayer. Esther and Mordecai and Jesus surrendered the threats on their lives to God, and God transformed those threats into redemption. What is a difficulty (past or present) you face that God is inviting you to surrender?
