Sermon Title: A Letter to the Church in York

Text: Romans

Preacher: Josh Kleinfeld

Reflection Questions:

Read Romans 15:5-6. Take two minutes to pause and meditate on those verses.

  1. If you were to write a letter to the church today, what are 1-3 issues that you would address?

  2. Looking at Romans 1:1-4 and 15:4, what role does the Old Testament play in revealing the person and purpose of Jesus?

  3. Now, consider Romans 1:20 in light of the previous question: What does nature reveal about God? And if God reveals Himself through the Bible and through nature, what does this tell us about God?

  4. Read Romans 3:21-26. What do we learn about sin and God’s grace? What is the purpose of faith in the life of a believer?

  5. Read Romans 5:6-11. What does this tell us about the sacrificial nature of God’s love? What does this tell us about the effect of Christ’s death?

  6. In light of the love seen in Romans 5:6-11, read Romans 12:3-8. How are we in the church to be involved in showing and sharing the grace of God?

  7. Get personal: How can your unique personality and giftedness strengthen the church for her work of sharing God’s love and truth with the world?

  8. Confession: If God revealed himself through the Bible, nature, he most certainly wants our lives to also reveal His holy love. What in your thinking, speaking or acting needs to stop in order to more clearly reveal the love of God to others?

  9. Prayer Time: Ask God to strengthen your faith and empower you to show and share His love.
