Call to Worship: Psalm 145
Reflection Questions:
Begin by praying Psalm 145 aloud.
We see in Hosea 1-3, that Hosea was sent to the northern kingdom of Israel to illustrate how they had been unfaithful to God in their sin. How is sinning against God like being an unfaithful spouse?
Joel was sent to the southern kingdom of Judah during a natural disaster (locusts) to call them to return to God. Read Joel 2:25-32 and answer this: what does God desire for his people?
Amos was sent as a shepherd prophet to call out the religious hypocrisy of the northern kingdom of Israel. Read Amos 5:18-24. Why does God care more about righteousness and justice than religious worship?
In each of these prophetic books, hope for restoration is given. Read Amos 9:11-15, Joel 3:14-21 or Hosea 14:1-9. What does this reveal about God’s desire?
Which of these prophetic messages does your soul need today?
Close in prayer: ask God to draw your attention to one of the verses that you read today. Choose this verse to pray over yourself, your family, your church.
