Stillnaz Youth Update 4/15/24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Tomorrow night we are continuing our sex series! We are talking about God's design for sex and the boundaries He gave us. We have spent a lot of time reminding the students that God created sex to be good but just like purchasing a chainsaw, we would consult the owner's manual to be sure we didn't destroy ourselves or someone else, God is calling us to ask Him how he created the owner's manual for sex. There has been good conversation and questions. At the end of the series, we will have a leader panel where leaders will answer questions from the youth about the topic. Jesus wants to be a part of every crevice of our life, including dating and sex. I am continuing to pray that as we elevate Jesus together that our teens would be radically transformed through His power.
As we focus on elevating Jesus, I am looking for prayer partners. Would you join me in praying for our teens and the neighborhoods around our church? If you will join me in prayer, email me at tmartin@stillnaz.com
In the coming months, I would love to walk the neighborhoods around Stillmeadow together praying for the people there and will send out available times!
Exciting news! We have a Stillnaz Swag store open and there are a lot of youth ministry options! Check it out for your family and/or teen!

Weekly Reflection Questions:
What stood out to you tonight?
If you had to explain to a friend why sex and intimacy are best within marriage, how would you say it?
What are ways you can plan to avoid temptation and set boundaries?
Why do you think it is better to ask the question, “What’s the best for my future?” than the question, “how far is too far?”
(High School) Why do you think it is more difficult to stop physically, when you have already gone too far?
What have you found to be good ways to overcome temptations?
Why is it most important to pursue intimacy with God?
Open the door if anyone wants to talk to you privately

Stillnaz Youth Update 4/9/24
It all begins with an idea.
Ignite is Tonight!
Stillmeadow Families,
This past weekend was Mission Advance, a time for our district family to come together and hear the vision for our district this year! One of my biggest takeaways was a simple one...elevate Jesus. It was a reminder to me that in every aspect of what we are doing, the focus in the center needs to be to elevate Jesus. In our car rides is Jesus elevated? At our dinner table is Jesus elevated? In our youth group, is Jesus elevated? In every conversation, is Jesus elevated? The president of Eastern Nazarene College spoke about elevating Jesus and Romans 1:16, "I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." If we are elevating Jesus everywhere we are, it is the power of GOD that brings salvation. I am praying that as we elevate Jesus together that our teens would be radically transformed through His power.
We will be elevating Jesus in our relationships tonight, talking about Jesus' power in dating and sexual purity. We are continuing our series, Sex is Spiritual, and will focus in on the difference between love and lust. Last week was a really encouraging conversation and I was really proud of the teen's maturity and vulnerability. Reflection questions are below!

Weekly Reflection Questions:
If you were to only be able to pick one, which would you say love is: a feeling, a choice, or an action? Why?
How do you think our society does a lousy job at defining love?
What comes to mind when you hear the word “lust”?
Are there any similarities between love and lust? What are the differences?
We read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and briefly shared what stuck out to us about the definition of love. Let’s talk about it some more. What stuck out to you and why? (You may want to reread the verses.)
What does selfless love look like? How do you do that without having someone take advantage of you?
What did you learn about lust that you didn’t know before?
How big of a deal do you think pornography is amongst your peers?
How does knowing your value is in Christ affect dating, sex and relationships?
What factors make it difficult to live a pure life in today’s world?
Are you truly loving others or using others?
Is God in control or is lust in control?
Are you finding value in God or people?
Are you living with the end in mind or living for the moment?

Weekly Reflection Questions:
1. Here are the five lies about sex that we heard in the lesson. Have you ever heard or seen these lies?
Sex is no BIG DEAL
Sex is purely PHYSICAL
God is DOWN on sex
Everyone is DOING IT
It’s impossible to be PURE
2. What other lies about sex are out there?
3. Did you disagree with any of the lies? Meaning, did you think that any of them weren’t really lies?
4. What kinds of things do you hear about sex at school? From your friends? What do your teachers say about it?
5. How many of you have had the sex talk with your parents? What was their perspective on it?
6. Do you agree that sex is more than just physical? Explain.
7. Why do you think that the world downplays or doesn’t even mention that sexual decisions leave life long memories, life long consequences?
8. Why do you think God would have put sex in the creation story?
9.Many teens do not wait to have sex until they are married. Does that mean they should just continue to have sex since they have lost their virginity?
10. Commit together to give everything in lives to Christ, including sexuality.
11. How does making Christ first in your life help you in all your relationships?

All are invited to Prayer Night!
Stillmeadow Families,
This week is Holy Week. This is the week Jesus makes His way to the cross. This Holy Week we are inviting you to take part in our prayer services as we Walk the Way of Jesus together through each station of the cross. Tomorrow night, your youth will help lead us through the first four stations of the cross. We will pray together, reflect together, and worship together. The prayer service starts at 7pm. We hope to see you there. All subsequent prayer services will continue to Walk the Way of Jesus and are listed below:
Tuesday, March 25 (Stillmeadow Lane with Ignite Youth)
Wednesday, March 26 (York City Campus with Celebrate Recovery)
Good Friday, March 29 (Stillmeadow Lane)
I am praying this week we will be overwhelmed by the work done on the cross, that our eyes will be opened to the way Jesus identifies with us and that we will desire to draw close to Him and to give our all to identify with Him. Join me in prayer!
We will then see you on Easter Sunday to celebrate resurrection and the baptism of our teens! There will not be Insight on Easter Sunday! Also, there is still time to join the JTAG choir! It would be great to see many teens and families participating! I am in, will you join me? If so, just show up Wednesday night at 6:30 for practice or sign-up at stillnaz.com/choir

Important Information on next sermon series
It all begins with an idea.
Please read: Info on next Ignite sermon
Dear Stillmeadow Families,
We wanted to write and tell you about our new series our youth ministry is offering at our Tuesday night Ignite gathering April 2, April 9, April 16, and April 23. This same topic will be discussed on Sunday mornings during Insight on April 7, April 14, April 21 and April 28.
Our four-week series is going to be called Sex is Spiritual. Our goal throughout this series is to teach God’s creative, healthy, and redemptive design for identity, sexuality and relationships. We hope to supplement and affirm what you already teach them about these issues at home, rather than to replace what you teach them.
We do not want sex to be a taboo subject at church when the rest of the world is talking about it and celebrating it in ways that God did not design. We want to open the conversation so that the truth is shared in a safe, communal place where vulnerable conversations can happen.
We will talk about how God created sex and how He created it to be good! We will talk about how sex is spiritual, and that God created us for relationship. Pursuing a relationship with Christ is most important.
We will talk about the difference between lust and love.
We will talk about God's design for sex and the boundaries He gives us. We will talk about the boundaries we can create for ourselves.
We will talk about dating and starting over.
As your student’s youth pastor here is what I hope to help your students understand.
God isn’t against sex...He created it
God isn’t against teenagers...He created them
God isn’t against them having sex...but he wants them to wait for marriage
Sex is not for mature people
Sex is not for ready people
Sex is not for in-love people.
Sex is for married people.
Please join me in praying through this series that our youth would know their value as a child of God, be rooted in their identity in Christ, understand God's love for them in a deep way and recognize the healthy relationships He desires them to have.
Please feel free to discuss these topics with your child throughout the journey. I will send the reflection questions each week so you can continue the conversation. If you have any questions about this series, please feel free to call me (717-578-5685). If you would not like your child to be a part of this, please reach out to me to discuss an alternative!
With Hope!

All Families Invited to Ignite 3/18
It all begins with an idea.
Special Speaker: Greenlight Operations
Stillmeadow Families,
Good morning! Guess what?!? As of right now, 7 teens are getting baptized on Easter Sunday! Let me know if your teen may still be interested!
We returned from FOL and had a great time! It was so great to be with our family on the district and watch all of our youth showcase their gifts for Jesus. I have been praying that each teen would know deeply that their gifts come from the Creator who created them to be a light in the world with the gifts they were given. And our Stillmeadow teens had a lot of medals!
Tomorrow night you are all invited to come to Ignite to hear Greenlight Operations speak to our youth and families! We are kicking off at 7:00! Greenlight Operations is a non-profit organization that fights against sex trafficking and offers housing to victims. I have had the privilege of hearing their founder speak and you do not want to miss it! See you there!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 3/11
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Good morning! Tomorrow is Ignite! I am reflecting on baptism this week and praying we our youth will identify completely with their Savior. Jesus' baptism was an opportunity for Him to identify who He was and to identify with us. He was the Son of God! This was a baptism of repentance, why would He need to do that? Jesus used His baptism as a starting point of His ministry to show the world He would live into the purpose of His Father. He also choose to identify with us. Ralph Earle says...
"He did not need a baptism of repentance, but this act was a symbol of His whole earthly career which was a baptism into the experience and sufferings of human life. It spoke of a close identification of Christ with human need."
Our baptism now calls us to identify with Jesus as a new creation, to tell the world we will live into the purpose of Jesus and identify with Him in the work He did on the cross.
So this week, in our year of relationships, we are talking about baptism and what it symbolizes in our relationship with Jesus! Talk to your child about baptism and what their baptism meant to them as you reflect on Easter and Jesus' resurrection. If your youth has not been baptized and has expressed interest through discussion or question, there is a baptism class on March 17th!
This weekend is FOL! If your teen is registered, you will be receiving a separate email with all the details!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 3/4
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Good morning! Spring is in the air and so is the realization of new life. What a gift that we can live into the new life Jesus offers us once we turn our trust to Him. I was reflecting this week on Jesus' prayer before His crucifixion, "Not my will but Yours be done." It is so mysterious to think about Jesus having a will. I heard someone say last week that Jesus giving His will over was the starting point of the defeat of death and sin on the cross. I wonder what we can accomplish when we say, "Not my will but Yours be done." I am praying for that moment of surrender for each of our youth and each of you!
This week, in our year of relationships, we are talking about cultivating growth in our lives. This is a great week to visit our growth plan as a family!
https://www.stillnaz.com/growthplan
I have been so encouraged by the sharing of the teen's Ebenezer stories! We have been saying that every time we share a story our faith meter goes up, kind of like Buddy the Elf's proclamation that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear, the way to spread faith in Jesus and his call is through telling stories loud for all! The Bible says, "We will overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony!" Our story (His story in us!) is listed next to the blood of the lamb!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 2/27
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
This past weekend was our IF: conference and it was a powerful time of connection and insight from the Holy Spirit. One of the speakers talked about how when we are really thirsty nothing satisfies our thirst other than water. She mentioned her love of sweet tea but how when she is dehydrated thirsty, the real thirsty, that sweet tea feels sickening. Water is the only thing that satisfies. Jesus is our living water. When we are really thirsty in life in the middle of all the chaos, nothing else will satisfy. Even the good gifts from God cannot be enjoyed because we are not fully satisfied by Him. What areas are we trying to satisfy our thirst with something or someone other than Jesus? Join me in praying that our youth would know to their core the only One who can satisfy them and dive into the living water.
This week, in our year of relationships, we are talking about equipping servants and how Jesus created us to serve. We will continue to share our Ebenezer stories so keep asking how God is working in your youth's life! I will be sharing with the teens how their d-group leaders will be coordinating ways for their groups to serve together throughout the year! So lookout for texts/emails from your teen's d-group leaders sharing information about service possibilities. We are encouraging every d-group to serve together 4 times a year!
Here are a few highlighted announcements for the week and below are a few announcements to help us serve, grow and invite!
This Wednesday at 7pm is the Lenten service at Stillmeadow!
FOL registration is here! This year we will not be staying in Bel Air. We will be staying at Casey Harrison's house and my house and we happen to be neighbors! We will commute to Bel Air Friday night and Saturday morning. More details to come! Here is the link to sign-up. Be aware that you will register with Stillmeadow and then be re-directed to register with the district since this is a district event! Deadline for registration is this Friday, March 1st!

Here are the reflection questions from this week to discuss with your teen:
What are some of the gifts God has given you?
Do you feel like you want to compete with your gifts? What security can we find in scripture when we feel that way?
Do you ever question if someone is worthy for your service?
Serving is loving others, changing us, and creating unity. Which of these have you experienced? Can you share a story?
What is the first way we can serve together as a d-group?
Are you looking more inward or outward?
What ways can you serve on a regular basis to those around you?

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 2/19
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
This past Wednesday was Ash Wednesday which starts the Lenten Season. As you journey toward Easter, pray together as a family asking what things could we sacrifice to make more space for Jesus or what things could we add to make more space to see Jesus in our lives. I am praying that each of us would have an encounter with the Spirit this season, drawing us into deeper relationship with Him and one another.
This Tuesday at Ignite I will not be present! I have birthday plans, but Pastor Josh will be there and one of our teens is preaching! Praise God!
Just a reminder, our first sermon series in our year of relationships is a zoomed in look at our core values and how they affect our relationships. We have talked about building unity, proclaiming Jesus, praying relentlessly and sharing our stories. We are also continuing to share "Ebenezer Stories" where each week your teen will be invited to share a story of how they saw God in their life. Each week you could ask your teen, "How are you seeing God work this week?" This week we are talking about loving sacrificially. So one question you can ask your teen is what are ways we can love well in all of our relationships even the hard ones?
Here are two highlighted announcements for the week and below are a few announcements to help us serve, grow and invite!
Deadline for registration is March 1st!

College Financial Planning Workshop
Stillmeadow Families,
We recognize that college planning is hard work and often very confusing. So we are inviting you to attend this complimentary, 90-minute college planning overview on February 27 from 7:00-8:30pm in the Children's Worship Space to learn how academics, admissions and financial strategies can work together to help save you and your student money on college. This is a Tuesday evening so when you drop your teen off, feel free to come inside and we will point you in the right direction! There will be refreshments available at 6:30 so please RSVP to me or Patsy Moses at pmoses@stillnaz.com.
You will leave knowing:
• What to expect when transitioning from high school to college.
• Why published costs may not be as important as you think.
• Tips about the FAFSA and its importance to you.
• About cost of attendance, out of pocket, expected family contribution, need-met and gift-aid ratios, and how they apply to you.
• How to improve your student’s odds of graduating in four years.

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Social Media Release
It all begins with an idea.
Stillnaz youth family,
In the age of photos and social media, we are asking for each child to have a photo/social media release form filled out for Stillmeadow Youth this year. Please take one moment to fill out the form below. On this form you will be able to deny permission or give permission for us to be able to take your child's photo and post it on church media like our website, Instagram and Facebook page. We are hoping to have a form completed for every child by the end of the month! Thank you for your help with this!
If there are any questions, please reach out!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 2/6
It all begins with an idea.
Good afternoon!
Tonight is Ignite!! Woohoo! We are so excited to be with your teen! Join me in praying for all of our teens. I have been praying that each of them will know their value in God and that their value system would be one of love and faithfulness, not based on acceptance and popularity. In Luke 6:20-22, Jesus flips are value system upside down and calls us to the value system of the Kingdom of God!
Tonight is our refresh kick-off! Teens will be with their new d-group leaders and we will be starting a new connect time at the beginning of the night!
Just a reminder, our first sermon series in our year of relationships is a zoomed in look at our core values and how they affect our relationships. We have talked about building unity, proclaiming Jesus and sharing our stories. We are also continuing to share "Ebenezer Stories" where each week your teen will be invited to share a story of how they saw God in their life. Each week you could ask your teen, "How are you seeing God work this week?" This week we are talking about praying relentlessly. We will be talking about how prayer affects our relationship with Jesus, each other and yourself. We will be walking through the steps of the Ignatius Examen Prayer with a modern twist for teens called Daily Replay.
Here is the link to the video to explain the prayer practice and the 5 steps you can encourage your family to do together:
Become aware of God's presence
Review the day with gratitude
Pray attention to your emotions
Forgive and ask for forgiveness
Look toward tomorrow

On Sunday mornings at Insight, we are still focusing on a teen prayer series that will reinforce prayer in our life. The series is on RightNowMedia and is led by Francis Chan. It does incorporate topics such as sex, drugs, and peer pressure. If that is something you are concerned about, please reach out and let me know!
Also, below are the reflection questions for the sermon this week if you would like to visit some of these with your teen!
What spoke to you in the message?
How do you feel about the d-group changes? Start to take time over the next month to end your current d-group and reflect on your time together.
Are there any stories you want to share from this week?
What is one prayer practice we can do regularly as a youth groups?
Is it hard to keep God at the center of your life?
Can you share what your examen experience was like? What connected for you? What did not connect for you?
How does prayer affect all your relationships?
What has your prayer life been like?
What has kept you from prayer?
Do you have any practices that help you remember to pray and bring everything to God?
Check out all the announcements below! There are ways to serve, grow and invite!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 1/31
It all begins with an idea.
Hi Parents!
I wanted to let you know that each of your teens has been assigned to a new d-group! Their d-groups will start next week. Each d-group leader will be in contact with you throughout the year as they plan service opportunities and get togethers. I wanted to send the updated youth leader contact sheet, so you have it as a reference! Ask your teen who their new d-group leader is, find their name on the contact sheet, and feel free to send them a quick text to introduce yourself! We are so excited for this year of relationship and the sharing of our stories!
Also, below is our winter snapshot of what is going on in youth ministry! We will create one of these cards every season to keep you updated! You can also use this card to invite other teens you may see on Sunday mornings or in your community. There will be extra printouts available on Sunday morning if you ask a youth worker!
Grateful to partner with you in His mission!
With Hope!

Stillnaz Youth Ministry Update 1/30
It all begins with an idea.
Good morning! Today is Fun 5th Tuesday! The youth will be participating in fun games and competition against their youth leaders! We are also continuing to share "Ebenezer Stories" where your teen will be invited to share a story of how they saw God in their life. Each week you could ask your teen, "How are you seeing God work this week?"
Just a reminder we are restructuring our d-groups starting next Tuesday and your teen will be invited to serve once a quarter with their d-group. We will be sending out more information on this in the future. As we think about serving within our community, we are planning for Mission Week! As we plan for this year of relationships and service, I wanted to send out the preliminary details about Mission Week! Mission week will be the week of June 24-28th and we need your prompt response by the end of this month if your teen is interested. This is not a registration form but an interest form. If your teen has any interest at all, please fill out the form. We are attempting to get a rough idea of how many could be joining us as Holly Strait secures jobs for our teens! Please fill out the form as soon as possible.

Good morning! We are continuing to journey through our year of relationships and our sermon series on our core values! Tonight, Pastor John will be coming to preach and talk to us about how worship is a way to proclaim Jesus and build a relationship with Him and one another. We are really excited to hear what he brings to help teach us to have a heart of worship! We are also sharing "Ebenezer Stories" every week where your teen will be invited to share a story of how they saw God in their life.

It all begins with an idea.
Hi families!
Tomorrow night at 7:00pm is our teen lock-in! First of all let me start by saying if there is snowy weather and Central school district cancels their evening activities, the lock-in will be re-scheduled to a future date! We will also send an email communicating the cancellation.
If you have not registered your teen yet, it is not too late! We are going to allow registration to stay open until 10am Friday morning! Encourage your teens to invite their friends! Doors will be locked at 7:30pm! Here is the link to register:
Here is a list of what you should bring:
Every teen needs to bring a snack to share!
A sleeping bag and pillow if you plan to sleep!
Wear what you plan to sleep in so you don't have to worry about packing a bag!
Each teen will be assigned to a youth worker for the evening to check in and make sure they are where they need to be!

At 3:00 am teens will be invited to go to gender separate rooms to sleep. There will also be a space in the gym and youth lounge for those who wish to stay up all night. Once you chose a room, you will be in that room for the night unless you ask a leader for permission to change spaces. For example, they thought they wanted to stay up all night but then decide they want to go to sleep! A leader will take them to their appropriate room and drop them off with the leader of that room.
Pick-up will be 8:00am Saturday morning!
We are looking forward to a night of fun and connection!
