Good News Global, Gather and Give, Church Elections

Dear Stillmeadow Saints,

Paul’s Encouragement for the Church

We’re in the final two months of our year-long series: GodStory OurStory. It’s the “letters” part of the New Testament, where we look at what the early church leaders wrote to shepherd the church. Last week, we looked at the life and letters of Peter, and yesterday we looked at the life and letters of Paul. (see the City Campus message or the Stillmeadow Lane message).

Paul gives us plenty of autobiographical stories (see 1 Timothy 1:12-17, Acts 22:1-21, 26:1-29, Galatians 1:11-2:21, Philippians 3:4-14), but his testimony can be summarized like this: I was shown mercy so that my life would be a display of Jesus Christ’s immense patience. His Story became a billboard for the grace of Jesus…in the same way that our lives do as we surrender to God’s work.

The grace he experienced with Christ led him to work hard at building unity within the early church that faced all kinds of external and internal pressures to divide. He preached that Unity WITH Christ brings Unity IN Christ (Philippians 2:1-4) that Builds Bridges Across Ethnic, Economic and Gender Barriers (Galatians 3:26-28).

And even though he thought Jesus was coming back soon, he constantly found ways to invest in the future of the church reminding us that Ministry is INVESTMENT in the NEXT Generation.

Just Mercy Month Emphasis: Good News Global

In our first week of our Just Mercy Month, we emphasized the work that Michael Irvin is doing through Good News Global’s work in York County Prison. He is doing gospel work with people inside and outside the prison. When you give to Good News Global through Stillmeadow, you’re investing in God’s redemptive work through Michael Irvin. Check out www.stillnaz.com/justmercy for 5 Ways that you can partner with Good News Global this year.

Grace and Peace,

Josh

PS Thanks to those of you who prayed on our Day2Pray. We’re doing it again on November 25.
