The Truth // Xtreme Xpress Bus Ministry, Men’s Retreat, Day2Pray

Dear Easter People!

He is Risen!

In this third week of the Easter Season, we looked at “The Truth of the Resurrected Savior.” Pastor Chastity Frederick’s first sermon as a District Licensed Pastor was convicting and compelling. Check it out on the YCC YouTube here!

In his book “Possible,” William Ury says something like, “I’m not an optimist or a pessimist; I’m a possibilist.” But the believer is invited to adapt that phrase and say, “I’m not an optimist, nor a pessimist; I’m a resurrectionist.” As believers in the truth of Jesus as our Resurrected Savior we look at everything, from our past to our present to our future, through the lens of resurrection. If God could conquer sin and death through the resurrection of Jesus, is there anything too difficult for him?

One practice we want to invite you into is to lament. The disciples walking to Emmaus in Luke 24 “had hoped” that Jesus would be different, but were disappointed with his death. The resurrected Jesus took time to hear them and then to show them God’s redemption plan through scripture. When he broke bread, they knew it was him. Similarly, we’re invited to share with Jesus the areas of our lives where we are facing disappointment and let down. Take time in your prayer times this week to share your lament with him and be quiet before him. Trust him with your sadness and pray, “If you can overcome death and sin, I know you can help me with (insert the trouble you named).”

It is true! He is Risen,

Pastor Josh
