Christmas Schedule, Christmas Cards, and The Big Give

Dear Church,

We’re journeying through advent with stories from our community.

Are you facing grief or sorrow?

In today’s advent devotional, Nedra Lahr shares about a time when God gave her comfort and joy in the middle of a time of sorrow.

“After [my friend] Hope died, in the midst of my grief during a church service, the Lord gave me an incredible vision of Hope standing at the edge of a high cliff overlooking an emerald sea, arms outstretched, her face lifted toward the Sun that shone over a field of golden wheat. The wheat and her long, flowing white dress swayed in a gentle breeze. But the sunlight and the look on her face—it was radiant; a vision of peace and joy like I have never envisioned before or since! It was amazing how peace transitioned to joy and surprised me in the midst of my deep sorrow. And I am grateful. Comfort and joy, freedom from despair, is found when we turn our face to the Son of Light!

“Restore us, Lord God Almighty;

make your face shine on us,

that we may be saved.“

Psalm 80:19

Christmas Card Exchange

Let's share the love with Christmas greetings this season.

We'll have boxes in the cafe where you can drop cards for Stillmeadow family, our shut-ins and for our local police. We’ll have a list of names of Stillmeadow folks who are unable to get out as much so that you can write a card to bless them. And we’ll have a place for you to express your appreciation to our local police department as well.

The boxes will be out from Dec 4-25, but we'll be delivering the cards for shut-ins and police the week before Christmas, so those cards are due by Dec 18.

Give with us

What a year we’ve had to share God’s resources. Join us in “The Big Give” as we contribute to what God is doing in Stillmeadow, in York and around the world.

Spread cheer by lighting luminaries at Normandie Ridge

Next Tuesday, Dec 20, volunteers will gather to light luminaries and bring joy to the residents of Normandie Ridge. This is an all ages opportunity that begins at 4:30 and ends with cookies and hot chocolate around 5:30. If you’d like to participate, contact Julie Callender at 717-578-1310.

Stillmeadow Gear

If you ordered Stillmeadow Gear it will be available for pick-up in the Café. If you have any questions please email Pastor Rachel at pastorrachel@stillnaz.com.

2022 Giving Statements

The generosity of God’s people has blessed Stillmeadow and its ministries here in York and to the world beyond.  Together our contributions shared the  Gospel, fed the hungry, supported the hurting, sustained missionaries, sent a team to Florida, gave children and youth a camp experience, and allowed our church to operate the two campuses. Your 2022 giving statements will be emailed on January 25, 2023.  We are entering the last few days of 2022.  As we approach this milestone, now is the time to plan and contribute your year-end gift.

Pastor Josh and the Stillmeadow Team

PS…I’ve heard some great stories of ways that people are including others in their Christmas festivities. Who can you include in your Christmas festivities? Consider sharing cheer through caroling or lighting the luminaries at Normandie Ridge on Tuesday or bringing in cards for our shut-ins or delivering Christmas cookies or inviting someone to join you with us in one of our services.

Church Board Results, StoryNight, The Big Give

Dear Church,

We’re journeying through advent with stories from our community.

Are you facing a hard decision?

Be encouraged by part of Beth Stark’s story (from today’s devotional) about trusting God and receiving peace in the face of a hard decision.

“I have always loved the story of Ruth and Naomi in the Old Testament. As a child, I moved every two to three years to a new Nazarene parsonage. The phrase, “Where you go, I will go, and where you stay, I will stay,” always resounded in my nomadic heart. I just wanted to stay in one place.

“As time passed, I began my own journey as an adult with many moves…Ohio to Pennsylvania to Missouri to New Jersey to Virginia to Pennsylvania once more. As much as my heart longed to stay, the voice of God often said, “Go!”. Sometimes it was easy; other times, it required me to lay my heart open before God and accept His will once again.

“Are you making a hard decision right now? Are you stalling because you don’t know if you can trust God? Pray until peace settles over you, take action with trust, and rejoice in God’s provision!”

Christmas Schedule, Church Elections, StoryNight

Dear Church,

We’re journeying through advent with stories from our community. Read part of Lorraine Lauer’s encouragement from today’s devotional below.

Are you living in a place called hope?

Or do you prepare for the worst and HOPE for the best? Many of us want to live in HOPE, but we get caught up in living with the “glass half empty” mentality. Living with the “glass half full” mentality or living in HOPE seems “risky.” Therefore, we prepare for disappointment rather than God’s best.

In my faith walk, the Lord is teaching me to run to Him rather than anything or anyone else. Have you prayed about it as much as you worry or complain about it? Our HOPE and peace come through faith walking and intimately communicating with Abba Father on a regular basis. It is so easy for us to be tempted to “vent” to one another rather than to “bother” God with our concerns. He longs to hear from His children, and His Holy word commands us to pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17). As I’m learning to pray more intentionally and seek Him in all things, He is teaching me to be still and pray while breathing Him in and out continually throughout my day. I challenge you on this day to embrace HOPE and allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and direct you to HIS perfect peace.

Happy Thanksgiving, Church Elections on December 4

Dear Church,

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good…

Consider all the blessings in your life, from the breath in your lungs to the ability to read the words on the screen in front of you, from the salvation in your soul and the people God has put you in relationship with. Take a moment and say thanks.

His love endures forever. (Psalm 118:1)

The evidence of his love is everywhere. And I experienced it through the fun we had together in the Family Advent Experience and the Community Thanksgiving Meal on Sunday.

Through this season of Advent we will be witnessing, experiencing and expressing the goodness and love of God through our Advent Devotional and our Sunday morning worship times. If you haven’t grabbed a devotional yet or signed up to have them emailed to your inbox, you can get a devotional on Sunday or click the button below. This devotional is FULL of stories of God’s goodness and love in the lives of Stillmeadow family members.

My Prayer:

Thank you Father God for including us in your multi-generational, multi-cultural family.

Thank you Jesus Christ for offering your life as a witness and example of love and goodness.

Thank you Spirit for bringing the power of love and mercy into the lives of believers.

Thank you for giving to the Foster Care initiative

A note from Holly and Lester Strait. “We received an emergency placement of a 5 year old and nine month baby. They came with minimal oversized clothes and a pair shoes. Because you gave, the foster care team sprang into action to help us welcome the kids and supplied clothes and donations to help with the transition. We are also grateful the prayers and words of encouragement, the initial transition is challenging and scary for the young ones which often means sleepless nights. We are humbled by your giving, thank you! Thank you Stillmeadow!!”

My Prayer:

God, you are the best story-writer ever, bringing peace into an anxious world, restoring hope where there is despair, raising joy where there is sorrow, replacing hate with love. Jesus, you are the author and perfecter of our faith, and we ask that you help us trust you with our stories. Mercy Triumphs, Thanks from Florida, Advent is Coming!

Dear Saints,

I got to party with the kids in kids worship on Sunday, and it reminded me of the great joy and responsibility we have as a church family to share the message of Jesus to all generations (#JTAG).

The time with the kids also raised my hopes for our Family Advent Experience, which will take place in our worship services on November 20. (See the announcement below for more details.)

In our mini-series, we’re considering how Jesus served the world. He made friends, gave gifts, threw parties and told stories. This week, as we consider how to “throw parties” like Jesus, let’s remember that as our Good Shepherd, “He guides me along the right paths” and “prepares a table before me…” (Psalm 23). And as we welcome others, let’s remember James advice to not play favorites, because “mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:13)

Yes, mercy triumphs.

Think about that for yourself. If God wasn’t merciful, where would we be? Thank God that He “is rich in mercy” (Ephesians 2:4).

Now, let us be rich in mercy in this world of judgment, because “mercy triumphs.”

My Prayer:

God, you are the richest giver and most merciful Father. You give forgiveness of sins and second chances for life to anybody who would open their heart to You. Jesus, thank you for your sacrifice so that we can be forgiven and have a second chance. Spirit, help us be the kind of people who show mercy to whoever comes our way. Help us not play favorites in who we welcome into our lives, homes or church. We believe mercy triumphs, help us live according to that belief.

(Read along with us in our “Be the Church” series)

The Generous Giver, Preparing for Advent, Serving and Praying Together

Dear Church,

YOU ARE GIFTED! (BY THE GENEROUS GIVER)

And it has been a joy to hear how many of you have been spiritually gifted as you have shared your gifts with us. If you haven’t done that yet, take a couple minutes and find out your spiritual gifts through our spiritual gifts survey and share the results with us. We also would love to hear any ideas that you may have on how we can serve in our community!

CLICK HERE TO TAKE THE SURVEY

Our reading in James 1:2-12 reminds us that “Our God…gives generously". He is the most generous giver in existence and you are some of his most incredible gifts.

Why has He gifted you the way He has? Why has He gifted York with the gift of you?

Well, the answer to those two questions is connected to Jesus’ mission so beautifully described in Isaiah 61. Jesus came to rebuild, restore and renew. As Jesus rebuilds us, restores us and renews us, he invites us to be a part of the rebuilding, restoring and renewal of our communities and the world.

THE GENEROUS GIVER HAS GENEROUSLY GIVEN THE GIFT OF YOU TO THE WORLD

My Prayer:

God, you are the most generous Giver. Thank you for giving the gift of your Son to rebuild, restore and renew our world. Jesus, thank you for showing us a life of generous giving and inviting us into your kind of life. Spirit, help us be the kind of people who joyfully join the rebuilding of families, the restoration of communities and the renewing of our city.

Help For Refugees

The New American Welcome Center (NAWC) is helping many refugee families (read how they're helping here) and can use two kinds of assistance. First, they are looking for children's winter coats (0-18). Second, they are looking for full or queen size mattresses and bed frames so these families do not have to sleep on the floor. If you have coats, you can bring them to the church compassion closet (outside the family life center). If you have a bed, please contact Deb Deztel at the NAWC at (717) 819-0180.

Do, be, do, be.

Dear Church,

Which came first? The chicken or the egg? Which comes first? Being a Christ follower or doing Christ-like things? Being the church or serving the world?

Perhaps it is a back and forth loop between “being” and “doing.” As a father, “I am” a dad, but “I do” dad-like things (make breakfast, offer care when there is sickness or sadness, etc).

Paul’s encouragement to the Church in Colossae spins the loop of “doing” and “being” together in Colossians 3:12-14. There we see that Christians are “God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved.” And Christians are to do: “compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience”, forbearance and forgiveness and love. Their “to do” list (love others) shows their “to be” identity (loved by God).

Sounds like a fun song: Do, Be, Do, Be, Do, Be...

As you consider your identity in Christ today, pray through the opportunities that come before you in your home, workplace, school and neighborhood. Remember that your primary identity is “chosen by God, holy and dearly loved.” Remember that your primary task is to “put on love.”

My Prayer:

Father, we have been given a new identity and a new mission in You. When You see us, You see dearly loved children, chosen for a sacred purpose. Jesus, as the Son of God, You showed us the perfect blend between “doing” and “being,” receiving the Father’s love and extending His care to others. Spirit, fill Your church with joy at being chosen and fill Your church with conviction to do the simple and courageous thing: love our neighbors as we have been loved by You.

Majesty, Trunkin, Journey House Paint Night

Dear Church,

Majesty is a word I rarely use, except when my breath is taken away at scenic vistas or brilliant night time skies. It is a fitting word to describe God.

“Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth.” (Psalm 8:1, 9)

Yes, God is breathtakingly awesome.

You can see His genius in the fall leaves and in the change of the season.

Take a moment now to look around and take in His greatness and glory.

Now, how incredible that the one who made all this is the one who made you and me. And He didn’t just create humans but “crowned them with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:5). To be crowned is to be given authority and dignity.

As we go through this “Be the Church: Serve the World” series, let’s keep this in mind. We’ve been given authority to serve as Jesus serves, to love as Jesus loves. “Crowned with glory.”

My Prayer:

Jesus, when we consider you, we remember you were crowned with a bunch of thorns. Your love took you to death for us. Would you lead us, your church, to love with that kind of depth. What a gift that you are mindful of humanity, that you look on us with care. Now, help us return the mindfulness and care to those in our homes, workplaces, schools and neighborhoods. May your majesty be on display in your church the way it is in the fall leaves.

Love deeply with Hurricane relief, Habitat help, Trunk or Treat, etc

Dear Church,

WHY SHOULD WE “LOVE EACH OTHER DEEPLY”?

Well, the reason Peter gives is that “the end of all things is near.” And “because love covers over a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:7-9)

HOW SHOULD WE “LOVE EACH OTHER DEEPLY”?

By “offering hospitality to each other” (serve in greeting ministry, welcoming people who you might not recognize on a Sunday morning or at the grocery store).

By “using whatever gift you have received to serve others” (like giving to or going on the mission trip to Florida to help, like joining the Habitat Faith Build, like joining in Trunk or Treat, or volunteering in other ways at Stillmeadow or in our community).

“So that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)

My Prayer:

Jesus, you loved deeply…so much that you were willing to suffer for love. Would you arm your church with the attitude that is ready to suffer to show the goodness of your love? We confess that we shy away from pain or prefer security and safety, but sometimes that results in sin and acts of unlove. Help us love like you did. For God’s glory and the good of our community.

Repay with blessing, Sign up for Potluck and Directory

Dear Church,

Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing. (1 Peter 3:9)

Hold up! Is Peter saying the Christian “owes” blessings to those who “pay” them with evil?

Yes. Just like Jesus did (read 1 Peter 2:21-25). But notice that this comes with the promise “that you may inherit a blessing.” As Christians we have the “living hope” of a blessed inheritance in Christ “that can never perish, spoil or fade” (1 Peter 1:4).

Without God and without hope, all we have is hateful, wimpy retaliation or rebellion. Without God and without hope, we live like beasts who trample each other (so accurately portrayed in Daniel’s vision in Daniel 8).

With God and with His hope we have stouthearted love, “sympathetic, “compassionate” and “humble” (1 Peter 3:8).

My Prayer:

Jesus, help us schedule our lives around hope. Despair runs the streets, but your love rules the world. Help us love without fear. When we experience evil, strengthen us to repay it with blessing.

Abstain, Nominate, Potluck and more

Dear Church,

Abstain.

One essential step in discipleship is to “abstain from sinful desires.” Is this because God doesn’t want his children to have fun? Hardly. It’s because those desires “wage war against your soul” (1 Peter 2:11).

Live good lives.

And the life of discipleship isn’t just abstinence…another essential step in discipleship is to live such good lives that the “pagans…see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us” (1 Peter 2:12). So, Christians are people who abstain from evil and indulge in the good so that the world will see the evidence of God in us.

Daniel lived this way. When his jealous co-workers tried to find something wrong, “they could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent” (Daniel 6:4).

My Prayer:

Jesus, would you give Daniel’s strength of character to the people of the church today. We confess that we have done things that do not bring you glory. Help us abstain from evil and indulge in the good. Help us be trustworthy and not corrupt or negligent in our responsibilities. We want people to see evidence of your goodness and love in the way that we live.

DO YOU HAVE NOMINATIONS FOR CHURCH ELECTIONS?

On Sunday November 13, we will have our annual church board elections. Each Nazarene church is directed "to elect as church officers active members of the local church who profess the experience of entire sanctification and whose lives bear public witness to the grace of God that calls us to a holy life; who are in harmony with the doctrines, polity, and practices of the Church of the Nazarene; and who support the local church faithfully in attendance, active service, and with tithes and offerings. Church officers should be fully engaged in “making Christlike disciples in the nations.”"  (For the rest of the manual statement) Stillmeadow board members serve three year terms.

If you have nominations, you may submit them on this form by September 28. Our nomination committee will review the nominees and then contact them to see if they will allow their name to run for election.

Pray for those outside the faith, Nominate for church board

Dear Church,

Does God speak to people outside the faith?

Read Daniel 4 and you’ll see how God spoke to the pagan king Nebuchadnezzar. So yes!

What does it mean that God speaks to those outside the faith?

When Daniel showed up to help Nebuchadnezzar understand his dream, he was coming after God had worked in the king’s life. And when we show up in people’s lives, we are showing up to someone that God has been reaching out to before we came along.

What do we do with that?

Well, I think it means that we need to pray for God to show up to our friends and family members outside of the faith. Pray that they would be confused by what God spoke to them and that they would seek understanding. We know that those who ask, seek and knock, will be answered, find and have the door opened to them (Matthew 7:7-8). And it could very well be that we have the chance to be like Daniel and be the one to help them find the answer and open the door of faith.

Challenge:

  1. Make a list of friends and family who are outside the faith. Regularly pray for the people on the list.

  2. Watch for opportunities to point to God. Pray that God will open your eyes to see the opportunity and give you the wisdom and strength to share your faith.

  3. Trust God to do His work. The reason Daniel had such an impact is because he trusted God as the Most High power in the universe.

Prayer:

Jesus, reveal yourself to all who are reading this and all in our church community. Most High God, give dreams to our friends and family members and even our political leaders in the way you spoke to King Nebuchadnezzar. And Spirit, would you open our eyes to see the open doors for the gospel to be shared and would you fill our hearts with love and wisdom to share the good news.

Will you pray?

Dear Church,

On Sunday began a 6 week study in the book of Daniel. Dale Ralph Davis describes the book as “a realistic survival manual for the saints.” The saint survives and lives on the primary theme of the book: God’s kingdom cannot be destroyed, His dominion will endure forever. In other words, God is in control.

And in our reading today (read along with us here), we are given the very practical example of how a saint endures through threats and trials: prayer.

What do you do when you encounter a problem? Being a part of God’s family does not exempt you from problems. Daniel faced a threat on his life and asked his friends “to plead for mercy from the God of heaven…” (Daniel 2:18). They prayed and “the mystery was revealed to Daniel in a vision” (Daniel 2:19).

Who do you turn to when you encounter a problem? Daniel had his friends and His God. We have each other. Small groups have been bands of believers for many of our people going through trials. If you’re not in a small group consider joining any of these. Or you can share your prayer request with the church at www.stillnaz.com/pray.

Do people know they can ask you to pray with them? Daniel’s friends must have proven themselves trustworthy that Daniel would approach them with his desperate request. Do the people in your family, small group, ministry group, workplace or school know that they can bring requests to you?

Challenge:

  1. Ask your small group or family or coworkers how you can pray for them. Send out a text or give a call and ask “How can I pray for you today?”

  2. Ask your small group or family or coworkers to pray for you. Be like Daniel and show that you need help by asking your family or small group or church family to pray with you.

  3. Pray. Don’t just ask. Do it. Start by praying over your family, your small group, our church. Pray for the youth fall retreat this weekend, for the new small groups launching this fall, for any event you see listed in these emails. And let’s pray what Daniel prayed, asking for mercy and revelation.

Prayer:

Jesus, have mercy on all who are reading this and all in our church community across both campuses. You know the trials that each person is facing and you know the threats that rise against us as a church family. Spirit, would you reveal yourself to us and teach us “deep and hidden things” so that York will know that “wisdom and power are [yours]”. (Daniel 2:20-22).

Building Transition Update

We’re making progress in our building transition! The painting throughout the building is almost complete and the new kids welcome center is getting close.

Next: we’re updating the floors. The gym floor of the Family Life Center was painted last week and now we’re replacing the carpet in the cafe, children’s wing hallway, the children’s worship center and then we’ll be replacing the carpet in the Family Life Center.

After this we’ll be updating our worship chairs, decorating the walls and updating our cafe furniture!

We’re grateful for the many hands that are making light work!

Let’s continue to pray for all those doing the work and for the future generations who will benefit from it. If you haven’t had a chance to give to the Renovation Plus Fund to help with the cost of the new chairs, you can give here or in your weekly in person giving.

Prepare for Fall ‘22

Dear Church,

What an incredible celebration at the Welcome Bash! We are so grateful to each person who played a part that day, from the food vendors to the people who stayed after to clean up, from the parking team to the worship team, from the greeters to those who made room for others to sit. Praise God!

As I read Jesus’ prayer in John 17 today I was struck by this:

The more sanctified we become the more unified we become. The more unified we become the more the world sees God’s love in us.

Jesus prayed for us to be sanctified and unified. His love liberates us from our sin, so that we can live a sanctified life. As we live that way, His love impacts our local area (family, neighbors, co-workers, teammates and classmates). And as we live that way, we find ourselves unified in Him, collaborating with each other to reveal His truth and love to each other and the watching world.

Join us in the daily readings on the liberating, local and collaborative love of God

Pray for the Bash, Prepare for Fall ‘22

Dear Church,

How did the early church have such a great impact on the world? It wasn’t by their own strength and willpower. It was because they received “power when the Holy Spirit [came on them]” (Acts 1:8). With that Spirit-power they went and told the story to those in their capital city Jerusalem, then in the surround areas of Judea and Samaria and then to the ends of the earth (and all the way through the centuries and over the miles to York, PA today).

Will you pray with me for the Welcome Bash?

I’m praying that this Sunday will be Spirit-filled and life-changing, and that those gathered there will be empowered to share Jesus’ love and truth with those in their homes, neighborhoods, schools and workplaces.

Will you pray that way too?

If the Stillmeadow church family is going to make a difference in York, it won’t be on our own strength or willpower, but by the strength and courage that only comes from the Holy Spirit.

Join us in the daily readings on Spiritual Strength and Power

Backpack Blessing this Sunday and Welcome Bash is 10 days away!

Dear friends,

As we read Mark 8:27-33 we see two essential discipleship questions. How we answer these questions determines how we live.

1) Who do you say that Jesus is?

2) Do you have in mind the concerns of God or the concerns of humanity?

In our passage we see that Peter answered the first question correctly. Jesus is the Messiah! And on top of that, he is the King, Son of God, Master, Savior, Healer, Brilliant Teacher, Friend of Sinners, our Hero. As Christians, this is the first step of discipleship…admitting that Jesus is ALL THAT, and that I am not. In this first step, we admit our need for Him and His salvation.

And after that first step, we begin the process of moving our mind off our human concerns to the concerns of God. Even though Peter answered the first question correctly, he tried to rebuke Jesus when Jesus revealed that his plan as Messiah was to suffer and die. Peter still had human concerns and needed to have his perspective transformed. And as we follow Peter’s life, we see how that changed, as he himself joined Jesus in being willing to suffer and die for the cause of the good news.

So, as you go about your day, talk to Jesus about these questions. Ask Him to show you who He is. Be like Peter and admit that He the Messiah. Then ask Him to give you His perspective so that you will have in mind the concerns of God in everything you do.

Sponsor a Chair: Give to the Renovation Plus Fund

We need your help to cover the cost of new chairs for both campuses. After serving us for years, our worship chairs are wearing out and breaking down.

Each chair represents a life of someone who needs the grace of Christ. By helping with the cost of the chairs, you are investing in potential transformation for the sake of Christ.

JOIN IN TWO WAYS…

First, in prayer. I can’t help but wonder who will be blessed in the coming years from our generosity today. Will you join me in praying for them? And will you pray for our current church family to be united in Christ and focused on proclaiming Jesus to all generations?

Second, join in giving. We need $41,580 to complete the chair project. Each chair is roughly $60.00. A row of 8 chairs is $480 and a section of 40 chairs is $2400. Maybe you can sponsor part of a chair, a whole chair, a whole row or a section of chairs. Ask God for guidance and give according to His direction.

Click the “give” button below or text “give” to 717-444-8161 and select “Renovation Plus”. You can also give in person with “Renovation Plus” in the memo line of your check or giving envelope.

Stillnaz Weekly Update: Welcome Bash is 17 days away!

Dear friends,

I have yet to meet someone who loves waiting in lines. But in today’s word from Isaiah 30:15-18, we see God inviting the people of Judah essentially to wait in His line. They wanted the convenience and ease of “fast horses.” But when they put their hope in horses, they found themselves easily scared away.

Waiting on God is not convenient or easy, but it brings salvation, strength and blessing.

Sometimes in our efforts to “streamline” and make life “efficient” we can elevate “convenience” to god-like status in our hearts. This has two negative effects. First, it causes me to only obey God when it’s comfortable and convenient. Second, it causes me to (over)react to people who interrupt my flow as if they are “disturbing the peace.”

Today may we “wait on the Lord” and find salvation and strength in Him. May we receive His grace and compassion, and join Him in showing it to others in our world. And as we do, may we receive each person not as a disturbance but as a wonder to behold, a soul to be cherished and a spirit to be encouraged.

Youth Pasta Dinner: Sept 17

We are planning our Pasta Dinner for Saturday, September 17th.  The event is open to all youth group members, and the success of this event is critical to participation by both parents and teens alike.   We'll require help from parents in a planning capacity, and participation from youth to serve at the dinner.

We will be holding an initial planning meeting tonight, 8/11 at 7pm via Zoom.  During this meeting, we will discuss...

  • Ticket Sales, Food Planning / Preparation, Set up Planning, Greeters/Servers, Silent Auction, Baked Good Auction, Thrivent Sponsorship

We are in need of assistance in several of the areas noted above...essentially setting up sub-committees to lead the charge in planning and executing the various areas.

Please respond back to Jennifer Stough @ (717) 495-5368 or via email (timnjennifer@comcast.net) with your interest in helping with this event.  We're looking forward to it being a profitable venture and need strong support in making that happen for our teens.

Login for Zoom Meeting will be as follows:

Sponsor a Chair: Give to the Renovation Plus Fund

Our financial team has been diligent in saving regular church tithes and offerings for long-term maintenance on our buildings and properties, so we have been able to fund our recent building updates through that long-term maintenance fund. But we need your help to cover the cost of new chairs for both campuses. After serving us for years, our worship chairs are wearing out and breaking down. Will you sponsor a chair?

Think about it this way: Each chair represents a life of someone who needs the grace of Christ.

Pray for Kids Camp, Welcome Bash is in 24 days!

Dear friends,

As I read Mark 3:1-6 this morning I was struck by these three thoughts.

  1. I need to beware of having a stubborn and shriveled heart.

  2. I need to be aware of my need for a soft and restored heart.

  3. I need Jesus to soften and restore my heart.

The symptoms of a stubborn heart

The stubborn hearts of the Pharisees were more diseased than the man with the shriveled hand. They resisted God’s movement, ignored the needs of others and opposed Jesus’ healing.

When I find my rest or find my identity in anything less than Jesus, I too am prone to a stubborn heart. With a stubborn heart I am irritated by others’ needs, I will seek to escape my problems with substances or shows or job performance, or I will hold a judgmental attitude towards others.

Pray for soft and restored hearts

As we go about our everyday lives, let us be honest with ourselves and Jesus about where we are stubborn. Let us confess our need for the Spirit to soften our hearts and ask Him to restore our shriveled imaginations. And let’s show evidence of a heart being restored by serving others in their need.

Pray for the Kids at Kids Camp

Our kids and pre-teens are wrapping up their week at camp today and tomorrow. Pray for them and the workers, asking God to speak to their young hearts as He spoke to Josiah and Jeremiah in their youth.

Join us in the third week of reading through our rest series
