Reflection Questions
Begin with two minutes of silence, imagining the first advent of Jesus.
Advent is the season when we remember Jesus’ first arrival and look forward to his final arrival. The people of Abraham waited a long time for God’s promises to be fulfilled. Read Genesis 12:3 and Acts 3:25-26 to see how Jesus fulfilled God’s promise to Abraham. What does this tell you about God’s faithfulness and what does this invite us to do?
One of the unique aspects of our faith is Mary’s virgin birth. Look at Isaiah 7:14 and Luke 1:35. What does this tell us about God?
At the conclusion of Jesus’ ministry he gave his disciples some hints about his final advent. Read the two parables of Matthew 25:1-30. What do these invite us to do?
If you’re in a group, break into groups of 2-3 for these final questions: Are you ready for Jesus to return today? What in your life do you need to turn over to him?
Close in prayer asking God for strength to keep watch and invest in God’s kingdom until Jesus comes again.
