Stillnaz Youth Update 01.14.25

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Happy Tuesday!  Tonight is Ignite!  We will continue to journey through the Bible.  If you are following along in the reading, you know that tonight we will be talking about Joseph!  We are going to talk about what it means to have integrity in your life and how Joseph is an example of that through many circumstances,

Here is the youth link to jump into the reading plan if you haven't joined already!

https://bible.com/p/70629009/f54a13a1c4c97b482b4aae389bd79753

This year we will be our year of outreach/invitation!  We will concentrate on sharing stories about inviting people into the presence of God.  Last year, we celebrated our relationships with God and one another and this year we will look outside of our walls as a focus!  We will have service Tuesdays four times a year and we will participate with York Helping Hands four times a year!  The first is January 25th from 11-1pm, details are below!  A list of what we are collecting is also below!  We will continue our partnership with SAGE, mission week, and 30 hour famine.  With this plan, we will have service opportunities once a month!  We will also be having activities that allow our teens to invite including a March Madness watching party!   I am excited to see how God will move this year.  Will you pray with me this year that our teens will have a bold Spirit to invite people into the presence of God?

Finally, we are having a winter retreat this year!  It will be the weekend of 2/7-2/9.  This will include a retreat time of devotions and prayer.  Friday night will be a lock-in style night, where we will stay up late and sleep at the church.  Saturday morning, we will have breakfast and go snow tubing as a youth group then return to the church for dinner.  Saturday night we will spend the night in host homes and be back at the church Sunday after second service.  I am praying this is a time of connection and unity and growth!  This will be 40$/person which will cover meals for Saturday and snow tubing!  Here is the link to register....  Deadline is next Tuesday 1/28!

Stillnaz Youth Update 01.07.25

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Happy New Year!  I am praying for each of our families in this New Year that our eyes would be open to the work of God in each of our lives and that we would partner with Him in this work.  As some of you know we typically cancel evening activities when Central School District is closed; however, Ignite is on for tonight!!  Since the road conditions are clear and the closing was geared toward rural areas, we will leave the decision up to you and your roads!  I am really excited about coming back together after our break apart!

Tonight, we will kick off our Bible in a Year series!  Every week we will preach from the scripture in the reading plan for that week.  We encourage all of you to read along!  Here is the youth link if you haven't joined already!

It all begins with an idea.

EXCITING NEWS FOR 2025!

Stillmeadow Families,

It is soon approaching 2025 and I am excited to share our plan for the new year!  2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." Psalm 119:105 tells us the God's word is "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Paul reminds us that "whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope."  Knowing the word of God and the story of Jesus is essential to our walk and growth with the Lord.  Knowing God's story IS knowing our story!

This year, we will be reading through the whole Bible as a youth group and a church.  The reading plan is available on the YouVersion Bible app (we also have a paper copy!).

Below is the plan for your teen that we will follow together as a youth group.  Have them join and accept the invitation so we can journey together through the whole Bible this year!  We have also posted the plan on the Band App and have QR codes available on Tuesday night!  The goal is for every teen to sign up!

https://bible.com/p/70629009/f54a13a1c4c97b482b4aae389bd79753

As a parent, you will be sent an invite to read through the Bible from either your small group leader or you can find an invite below at this link:

http://www.stillnaz.com/2025-bible-reading-plan

All of the YouVersion plans are the same so that you will be able to talk to your family about the scripture you all read that day.  We hope this is helpful to your growth as a family and individually. Families that engage in communal prayer and Bible reading consistently report heightened levels of positive parent-child relationships, opening the door for deeper conversations about faith and self.

We pray that as we take this journey together that "our hearts will burn within us" (Luke 24:32) as we open the Scriptures together!

In His hope!

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Tomorrow is caroling and cookies!  We are so excited to celebrate the joy we have by going out to the neighborhoods around us and caroling while delivering cookies!  If you would consider making or buying cookies and donating them for us to hand out, that would be wonderful.  2 cookies per baggie would be great!  We will then put labels on each cookie bag!  We will pack up the cookies, split into groups, have a short devotional on Ruth, a picture of joy, then we will take our joy around the community!

Next week is our youth group Christmas party and then we will have a break for two weeks!

Tuesday, 12/10- Advent Series, "A Picture of Joy," caroling and cookies *This night we will serve the community around Stillmeadow by walking to deliver cookies and carol.  Please consider making cookies and donating them for us to hand out.  2 cookies per baggie would be great!

Stillnaz Youth Update 12.02.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Stillmeadow Families,

Happy Advent Week!  Praise God that we get to participate in this season of waiting together.  We are waiting in hope, peace, joy and love for our Savior.  We live in the "in between" space of our Savior's coming remembering that He has come, is coming, and will come again!  Last week we talked about the hope we have through the lens of Tamar's story.  This week we will look at a picture of peace through Rahab.  Rahab shows us what is looks like to experience the peace of God and let down the rope in a city who built walls but still lived in deep fear.  The question I am asking myself is what walls do I build instead of letting the rope down?  These are the questions we are asking tomorrow:

  1. Is it hard to take a step of faith?  What makes it difficult?

  2. Is it harder to keep peace with others or to stay in a state of internal peace?

  3. Do you think they are related?

  4. What walls do you put up instead of confronting your fear and letting the rope down?

  5. Who in your life do you need to create peace with?  Does letting your own walls down make that easier?

Below is our Youth schedule through the end of the year!  Our Advent Series will be called "A picture of love."  Each consecutive week we will look at a picture of hope, peace, joy and love through Jesus' genealogy.  Teens will be split into teams to compete in games throughout the Advent season which will include a photograph competition each week of finding an actual picture of hope, peace, joy and love in your community.  We will post these photos on the Band App and winners will be selected.  The winning team for the entire Advent competition will receive a prize at the Christmas Party!

Tuesday, 12/03- Advent Series, "A Picture of Peace"

Tuesday, 12/10- Advent Series, "A Picture of Joy," caroling and cookies *This night we will serve the community around Stillmeadow by walking to deliver cookies and carol.  Please consider making cookies and donating them for us to hand out.  2 cookies per baggie would be great!

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Happy Thanksgiving Week!  I am thankful for each of you and the opportunity we have to be together during this season of our lives!  Tonight we are entering our Advent series and we are talking about Tamar, who is in Jesus' genealogy.  We are exploring how Tamar is a picture of hope for us as we think about what hope really is during the first week in Advent which starts Sunday!  Disclaimer: Tamar's story is a bit scandalous; prostitution is part of her story, we will not be focusing on that but instead focusing on how scandalous sin meets scandalous grace.  Let me know if you have any questions!

It is hard to believe we are moving into the Advent season!

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Happy Monday!  I am praising God today for the ways He chases us down.  How He asks us for a cup of water and meets us where we are, even when we aren't looking for Him.  He is always looking for us.  Praise God for a love that speaks the truth but doesn't condemn, a love that names our past wounds so that we can receive healing, and a love that shows us when we least expect it.  What a gift that last week at Ignite, Andrew preached on John 4 and yesterday morning Chaplain Mike also preached on John 4.  The Spirit is moving and speaking.

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Tonight is Ignite!  Woohoo!  Andrew Workman is preaching, and I am really excited for the teens to hear him talk about Jesus' question, "May I have a drink of water?"  Pray with me that our teens feel inspired and ready to take Jesus to everyone they know.

An important reminder that youth group hours are 6:00-8:30pm.  We cannot have students dropped off before 6:00pm because we do not have youth workers available or the proper number of youth workers to supervise the teens.  The only teens who are here before 6:00 are student volunteers!  Thank you for understanding!

Some important announcements!!

  2.  Gift card fundraiser information will be handed out tonight if your teen would like to participate!  Refer to the email sent out yesterday for more information!

  3.   We will be having a high school game night on Friday, November 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm!

Finally, there is a new app called "Band."  We are asking all youth to download the app and search for Stillnaz Youth and request to join!  It is a closed group where we can communicate with each other!

Also, consider helping our youth group once a month by spending time with the little ones of our youth workers!  I sent an email around last week!  If you have any availability, please reach out!

Stillnaz Youth Update 11.5.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good morning and happy election day!

I am struck today by what a privilege it is to be given the right to exercise our vote.  It draws my attention this morning to those in other countries who do not have this opportunity.  Today, I am praying for them as we get to make a choice that some do not.  At the end of this election season, praise Jesus that we live in the unshakable Kingdom of God and tomorrow He is still King!

Tonight is What is Going on in the World which is our student led Tuesday, the first Tuesday of the month!  And tonight, one of our teens is bringing a phenomenal word on studying scripture, its importance and practical ways to do it!

We will then get in groups and spend time discussing!

Stillnaz Youth Update 10.29.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tonight is Ignite!  As we continue exploring the questions Jesus asked, we are looking at Jesus' question in Luke 11:14-28, "Now if I drive out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your followers drive them out?” We are talking about following Jesus's call to look at the good and evil powers at work and to choose what side we are on.  Jesus gives us the invitation, "Whoever is not with me is against me and whoever does not gather with me scatters."  If we aren't full of His presence, we will fill the empty spaces.  He invites us to make the commitment to hear and obey.

Here are the questions we are discussing that you can talk to your teen about:

Which one are you?  Do you need to commit to follow him?  Surrender?  Or start using your voice?

What does it mean to name the good and evil powers at work in your life?

Why is it hard to speak up?

Where is it easiest for you to gather?  Scatter?

When have you been spiritually dry?

What have you allowed to fill the spaces Jesus can fill?

Stillnaz Youth Update 10.22.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tonight is Ignite!  Two teens will be preaching tonight which is really exciting!  They will be talking to us about  “If you love those who love you, what reward will you get?” They will be concentrating on the fact that we are called to love everyone, even the people whose opinions we don’t agree with and the people outside of our comfortable friend circles.

Use this as an opportunity to talk to your teens about what unity looks like.  Do we have to be best friends with everyone for us to experience unity in Christ?  And ask them who they struggle with, what people in their lives are hard to love right now.  What influences keep us from loving those who are difficult?  Naming these things before God and giving them space to answer these questions can help in the loving and healing process.

Parent Volunteer Opportunity!

It all begins with an idea.

Greetings Families!

It is wonderful to be starting a new school year and a new year in Ignite. The teens are always excited to come to youth group on Tuesday evenings. We have a very dedicated team of Youth Workers who love interacting with, teaching, discussion, and playing games with your teens.

Here’s where we need YOU! Last fall we began childcare for the youth workers who have children that are younger than the sixth grader the age teens can come to Ignite. We had two dedicated parents who provided childcare on Tuesday nights. One of them has had to step away this fall and we are in need of a second adult to serve in this area for insurance and safety reasons.

Pastor Tab and I have been praying about this need and doing some brainstorming as what the future will look like for this ministry. One of the ideas is to have a rotating schedule of volunteers* who would be willing to help once each month. Volunteers would arrive by 6:00 pm. and assist Miss Jess with the childcare. There will be a schedule that is sent to everyone by the first of the month. If changes are needed, please contact me as soon as possible and I will find a replacement.

We are asking you to be in prayer about this opportunity. Share the information with others who may be interested in serving the littles of Stillmeadow. Personally, whenever I serve with the children I come away filled with joy.

Should you have questions, need additional information, or would like to sign-up, please contact Pastor Tabitha (717-578-5685, tmartin@stillnaz.com) or me (dmstaleystillmeadow@gmail.com).

Stillnaz Youth Update 10.7.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! This Tuesday we will be starting at 6:30pm and continuing our study of the Questions Jesus Asked!  This week we are tackling the question, "Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?"  We will be discussing the different between judgmentalism and judgment.  Reflection questions are below to unpack this with your teen.

  1. What is the difference between judgmentalism and judgment

  2. What are the ways you judge others or see others judged?

  3. Are you judging to mask your own insecurities, jealousy or envy?

  4. Are you holding people and/or yourself to standard different from God’s?

  5. Do I have an inaccurate view of how God sees me?

Stillnaz Youth Update

It all begins with an idea.

New Ignite time change starts tonight!

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tonight is Ignite!!  Our start time tonight is 6:30pm! Open gym start time will remain at 6:00pm.  Here is a chart to show the differences between our old schedule and new schedule:

Old schedule:

Open Gym

6:00-7:00pm

Start time

7:00 PM

End time

8:45 PM

New schedule starting 10/1 (TONIGHT):

Open Gym:

6:00-6:30pm

Start time:

6:30 PM

End time:

8:30 PM

In this new schedule, we are shortening our open gym time, lengthening our d-group time, and allowing our youth workers with young children to leave earlier in the night!  My hope is that it is helpful to families as most nights teens did not leave until 9:00pm or after while still having homework and other responsibilities.  8:30pm pick-up will be prompt!  D-groups will wrap up between 8:15-8:25pm and we will begin to close up the church at 8:30pm!

As you adapt, know that it is okay to come late!  The first half an hour from 6:30-7:00 will be game time so if your teen arrives at 7:00 they will be there in time for worship, message and dgroups!

Finally, there is a new app called "Band."  We are asking all youth to download the app and search for Stillnaz Youth and request to join!  It is a closed group where we can communicate with each other!

Stillnaz Youth Update 9.24.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tonight is Ignite!!  We will be continuing our series, "The Questions Jesus Asked."  Tonight, we will discuss the first question Jesus asked...What do you seek?  This is a hard question for each of us to ask ourselves.  Talk to your teens about what they are seeking.  Jesus wants us to name our desires and what we are seeking in His presence, even if they are things He doesn't have for us.  When we name them in His presence, He gets to the heart of the issue and show us something new about ourselves.

I have some exciting news regarding our Ignite schedule!  We are moving our start time to 6:30pm starting October 1st.  Open gym start time will remain at 6:00pm.  Here isthe breakdown to show the differences between our old schedule and new schedule:

Old schedule:

Open Gym - 6pm

Start Time: 7:00

End Time: 8:45pm

New schedule starting 10/1:

Stillnaz Youth Update 9.16.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tomorrow night is movie night!!  We will be watching Inside Out 2 as a youth group!  Encourage your teens to invite their friends!  The theme of our fall retreat this coming weekend is Inside Out where we will be examining what is going on inside that affects how we live for Jesus on the outside!  We will have popcorn, movie, and announcement of our Olympic Games winners!

This weekend is fall retreat as I mentioned above!  Be praying for the teens, leaders, helpers, band, and speaker!  If your child is registered, you should have received a separate email with the details!  If you did not receive that email, please let me know!

A shoutout to amazing youth and leaders who helped lead in Youth Sunday this past weekend!  It is a privilege to see them growing and using their gifts for the Lord!  If your teen ever wants to participate in Youth Sunday or worship, please have them reach out to me!

Finally, there is a new app called "Band."  We are asking all youth to download the app and search for Stillnaz Youth and request to join!  It is a closed group where we can communicate with each other!

Stillnaz Youth Update 9.9.24

It all begins with an idea.

Stillmeadow Families,

Good afternoon! Tomorrow night we begin our new fall series, "The Questions Jesus Asked."  We are kicking off tomorrow by talking about why Jesus asked questions and what we can learn from Him.  We are focusing on three points:  we can ask Jesus questions; Jesus asks us questions and we need to ask others questions.  Questions and faith are not opposed to each other but builds our faith when we bring our questions to Jesus.  Next week we will start with Jesus' first question, "What do you seek?" found in John 1

Tomorrow night will be our last round of the Olympic Games!  The spirit night is to wear your team color!  Winners will be announced next week before the movie night!

This coming Sunday is youth Sunday!  This means our youth members will be helping run the service!  I would encourage all of the youth to sit together for this service to help build unity in youth ministry!  We will sit in the front right section!

Special announcement for parents:  Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 10th at 7:00, Ray Stark is offering a college planning course for parents who are prepping financially for the college process.  6:30 refreshments will be offered.    Information is below! Please RSVP to pmoses@stillnaz.com by 3:00pm tomorrow.  Take note, the class will be held at the Sprinkle House!

Finally, there is a new app called "Band."  We are asking all youth to download the app and search for Stillnaz Youth and request to join!  It is a closed group where we can communicate with each other!
