Be Salty and Lit // New Small Groups, Family Ministry

Dearly beloved,

Yesterday, Andrew Workman at Stillmeadow Lane and Chastity Frederick at our York City Campus, gave us the next baby step of our series: “Be Salty and Lit.” Go back and read Matthew 5:13-20. Jesus said those things to his disciples as a compliment and a challenge. “You are the salt of the earth…you are the light of the world.”

I encourage you to hear those words as Jesus’ words over you. Look in the mirror and repeat them to yourself. Whisper them as you enter your school or workplace. Pray them as you interact with your family, friends, coworkers…especially those with whom you have the most difficult relationship.

Don’t forget the Five Steps for Unity this year

In the morning services (click here for Stillmeadow Lane and here for York City Campus) and at the cookoff, we issued the Embrace Unity challenge. I encourage you to pick this up and do this daily and watch God work in and through you.

  1. Pray for unity (John 17:21) (Use the Living Word Devotionals too)

  2. Repent of all hatred and disregard (Matthew 4:17)

  3. Follow Jesus, the Great Unifier (Matthew 4:19)

  4. AND Become a Gatherer (Matthew 4:19)

  5. Serve the Suffering (Matthew 4:23)

Gratefully Yours,

Josh

Family Ministry Announcement

Families and Volunteers-

We are really excited to announce Tara Strauser as our children's ministry director! Tara will be shepherding and supporting our volunteers, families, and children of all ages, from babies through 5th grade. She is currently pursuing a call to ministry and is in the process of becoming a pastor. Tara has years of experience as a school psychologist. She also has years of experience in children's ministry and is responsible for developing our current SUN (special needs) ministry. We are really excited about the gifts and graces she possesses to lead the children's ministry. She has a deep love for Jesus and His children of all ages.

She has an incredible team working behind her, with Kayla Meyers as the elementary director, Trudy Gunnet as the preschool director, and Elaine Briggs as the Bloom director, assisting Tara with elementary, preschool, and family night scheduling and planning. She will serve on the Family Discipleship team under the guidance of Pastor Tabitha. We would like to thank Trudy Gunnet for her time in directing during our transitions and the amazing work she did! If you have any questions about children's ministry, please reach out to Tara at tstrauser@stillnaz.com!

In hope!

Pastor Tabitha
