Who’s Lord? // Day2Pray (Tomorrow), Family Fall Fest (Friday), Baptism Sunday
Dear Stillmeadow family,
“What’s the most important thing you can do with your life?” That’s the question behind the question that the Pharisees were asking Jesus in Matthew 22:34-40. And Jesus gave them an answer that echoes down the generations: “Love God with all that you are and love your neighbor as yourself” (my paraphrase). But Jesus knew that the only way to naturally love so extravagantly would be by accepting his Lordship. That’s why he asked the riddle about “What do you think about the Messiah?” If we are going to love completely and consistently, then we need to be rescued from our idolatry and injustices. And Jesus is the Messiah who can deliver us from our failures and deliver us to victorious love.
Do you want to do the most important thing? Start by declaring “Jesus is Lord” over everything in your life. Make a list of all the things that are important to you. Write out and declare Jesus is Lord over those things. And then ask him for wisdom and endurance to love God and others through all of those things. He is faithful to help! Trust him and learn from him.
Participate in Day/Night2Pray4York as a way of doing the most important thing. It’s tomorrow, October 27.
When we pray, we express our need and devotion to God. It’s an act of love. And when we pray for others, it is joining God in his care for others. It’s an act of love. So, if you haven’t signed up for an hour to pray tomorrow, you can join the full full list here. And you can use this guide to pray. And you can join us in person for prayer tomorrow night at the Stillmeadow Lane Campus at 6:30.
Thank you for praying for the Guatemala Team!
By God’s grace, we served with Porch de Salomon (Solomon’s Porch) in helping build a home for Maria and her two sons. God opened hearts and doors as we heard from and visited Will and Amber Deeds and Victor from Animo, a friendship-based recovery home (the Deeds came to Stillmeadow this summer). Thank you for your prayers and financial support!
I’m grateful for, cheering for and praying for you!
Grace and Peace,
Josh

Dress up (nothing scary, please) and bring a friend. It’s a joy-filled way to live out the great commandment of loving our neighbors as ourselves!
Pastor Appreciation Month
The Church Board reminds the congregation that October is Pastor Appreciation Month. We are adding November and December to that time of gratitude. Please honor and bless our pastors and their families with tokens of appreciation, including cards, gift cards, meals, etc., but most of all a smile and a word of encouragement.
Baptisms on November 15
Have you given your life to Jesus? Baptism is the next step of faith, expressing before others what you have expressed to God in prayer. Baptism is an outward sign of something that God does within you (cleanses, purifies, transforms). It is an opportunity to share your commitment to Jesus with the church! Our next baptism is November 15. Our baptism class is November 8. Sign up and get more details at stillnaz.com/baptism.
