God’s Mercy // Fall Discipleship Groups, Rec Night, Welcome Bash
Dear brothers and sisters,
What is your viewpoint today? What is the lens through which you are looking at your days? In our final summer sermon series, we are going on an adventure through Romans 9-12. Chapters 9-11 contain a load of Old Testament highlights to illustrate God’s mercy at work in history and chapter 12 turns to the ethical implications of God’s merciful pattern of behavior (aka grace). So, our memory verse for the series is what ties 9-11 to 12. As Paul urged the church to live in view of God’s mercy, I urge you to put these words to heart and ponder how you can have God’s mercy as your viewpoint, as your lens through which you look at yourself and all you meet.
1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1-2

Growth Plan Updates
As we turn into the fall, this is a good time to revisit or create a growth plan. Essentially, these are ways of being intentional with your faith relationship with Jesus. Each of the four sections (rest, work, relationships, and prayer) of the growth plan covers a different aspect and expression of our faith. For example: memorizing scripture could be a part of your prayer practices. Check out the Growth Plan Instructions here.
Pray for Teen Camp
Would you pray with me for our youth and youth workers that are going to camp this week (Aug 3-7)? I’m praying Psalm 17:7 and Joshua 1:9 over us, that God would show us the wonders of his great love and use this week to strengthen and encourage our young people in their faith to share it with those in their homes, schools, workplaces and teams.
I’m grateful for, cheering for and praying for you!
Grace and Peace,
Josh
PS…I again encourage you to dig into the Living Word Devotionals and learn from Jesus through scripture. Find the readings here.
