Stillnaz Youth Update 03.25.25
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Tonight is Ignite! We are continuing our March Madness themed game time and will be competing in teams until the National Championship! During our prayer time, we are praying for those who suffer from any addiction, dependency or co-dependency. Then we are taking time to repent before the Lord for anything He places on our hearts. We are then talking about the scripture from the reading today (1 Samuel 24), living a life of fear versus a life of faith. We are exploring how a life of fear can lead to revenge and a life of faith leads to mercy. Talk to your teens about these questions:
What fears are you carrying?
How have you let culture perpetuate your fear and paranoia?
Is it hard to drown out the voices of others and listen to God? What could help with that?
When is a time you wanted revenge?
Is God asking you to choose mercy in a particular situation or with a particular person?
Pray together over your fears and those who have hurt you.
Reminder! Since there will be times we will serve on a Tuesday night off site, we are asking every family to fill out the yearly permission slip that is attached that gives us permission to take your child off site on a Tuesday night! Please fill this out and return it to pmoses@stillnaz.com ASAP! Thank you!

Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Tuesday! Tonight is Ignite! We are kicking off our March Madness themed game time and will be competing in teams until the National Championship! During our prayer time, we are praying for the immigrants and refugees in our community and taking time to repent before the Lord for anything He places on our hearts. The sermon tonight is a student led sermon which I am really excited about! One of our teens is going to be talking to us about the book of Ruth and how it applies to our relationships. Talk to your teens about these questions:
1. What are the things that are keeping your relationship with God growing?
2. What relationships do you need to weaken in order to follow God?
3. What can you do in your school, community, or household to grow your relationships with them?
4. And lastly, what can you do to be more like Ruth, and less like Orpah? And how can you achieve that?
Today's reading starts with Ruth 1 so it's a great time to jump into the Bible reading plan!

Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Tuesday! Tonight is Ignite! We are diving into the book of Judges tonight and talking about the battles we face in our lives. We are also looking at how the Israelites turned to the repeated cycle of
sin→ oppression→repentance→deliverance→peace. Talk to your teens about this cycle and how they see it play out in the world and their own lives. Ask them about what battles they may be facing. Praise God that just as God provided the judges for the people, He provides the ultimate judge in Jesus to deliver us from the cycle of sin and the battles we face. Today's reading starts with Judges 1 so it's a great time to jump in!

Stillmeadow Families,
Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Tuesday! Tonight is Ignite! For those of you who were able to experience Gather, what a powerful time of transformation, prayer and commission! I am praying we live into the promise that "where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom." The Lord offers us freedom in all the places that are bound. May we run to Him!
Also, what a fantastic job our teens did during Youth Sunday! If you see a teen, tell them great job!
Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent! I encourage each of you to sign up for our Lenten devotionals and take part in them together as a family. Also, spend some time thinking about what thing you can "holy subtract" from your life over Lent to lean into greater dependence on the Lord.
Tonight, we are finishing the book of Deuteronomy and talking about obedience! I will be leaving for a chunk of time for my son's NHS induction but will return to hear Nikki Stocker bring the message! I am really excited for the teens to hear the word and testimony Nikki is bringing tonight.
We will be starting in the book of Joshua on Thursday so if you haven't started reading, it is a good entry point! The link to the plan is below!

Stillnaz Youth Update 02.24.25
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Good Monday afternoon. As we start a new week, we remember the events of what happened this weekend at UPMC. We name there is brokenness and tragedy, and we name the hope we have in Christ to restore. We hold these two things together at the same time and remember God's work isn't done. We turn to Him in trust and turn to Him to move and then we move where He leads. May we run toward the broken and point others to Jesus, the way, the truth and the light in the darkness.
Tomorrow night is Ignite! We are starting the book of Deuteronomy where Moses tells the generation about to enter the Promised Land, the story of God's faithfulness. This week, may we also tell our children the stories of God's faithfulness in our lives. Let us not be prone to forgetfulness. If you haven't joined the reading plan yet, click this link below! It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Monday! Tomorrow night, we are doing a dive into Exodus 32 where the Israelites make an idol at the foot of the mountain. The same people who can see the Lord's presence at the top of the mountain. The same people who just committed to keeping the covenant with God. We are going to look at the idolatry from the perspective of Aaron and the people. Idols are lifeless and we become what we worship. So when we are worshipping something other than the Lord, we become dead. It hinders us from having life and living in God's love and joy and forgiveness. We must name them, get rid of them and turn to Jesus instead. Pray with me that we will all leave our idols behind and turn to the life Jesus offers instead.

Since the road conditions are clear and the closing was geared toward rural areas, we will leave the decision up to you and your roads! EXCITING NEWS FOR 2025!
Stillmeadow Families,
It is soon approaching 2025 and I am excited to share our plan for the new year! 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." Psalm 119:105 tells us the God's word is "a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Paul reminds us that "whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." Knowing the word of God and the story of Jesus is essential to our walk and growth with the Lord. Knowing God's story IS knowing our story!
This year, we will be reading through the whole Bible as a youth group and a church. The reading plan is available on the YouVersion Bible app (we also have a paper copy!).
Below is the plan for your teen that we will follow together as a youth group. Have them join and accept the invitation so we can journey together through the whole Bible this year! We have also posted the plan on the Band App and have QR codes available on Tuesday night! The goal is for every teen to sign up!
https://bible.com/p/70629009/f54a13a1c4c97b482b4aae389bd79753
As a parent, you will be sent an invite to read through the Bible from either your small group leader or you can find an invite below at this link:
http://www.stillnaz.com/2025-bible-reading-plan
All of the YouVersion plans are the same so that you will be able to talk to your family about the scripture you all read that day. We hope this is helpful to your growth as a family and individually. Families that engage in communal prayer and Bible reading consistently report heightened levels of positive parent-child relationships, opening the door for deeper conversations about faith and self.
We pray that as we take this journey together that "our hearts will burn within us" (Luke 24:32) as we open the Scriptures together!
In His hope!

Stillnaz Youth Update 12.09.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Tomorrow is caroling and cookies! We are so excited to celebrate the joy we have by going out to the neighborhoods around us and caroling while delivering cookies! If you would consider making or buying cookies and donating them for us to hand out, that would be wonderful. 2 cookies per baggie would be great! We will then put labels on each cookie bag! We will pack up the cookies, split into groups, have a short devotional on Ruth, a picture of joy, then we will take our joy around the community!
Next week is our youth group Christmas party and then we will have a break for two weeks!
Tuesday, 12/10- Advent Series, "A Picture of Joy," caroling and cookies *This night we will serve the community around Stillmeadow by walking to deliver cookies and carol. Please consider making cookies and donating them for us to hand out. 2 cookies per baggie would be great!

Stillnaz Youth Update 12.02.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Advent Week! Praise God that we get to participate in this season of waiting together. We are waiting in hope, peace, joy and love for our Savior. We live in the "in between" space of our Savior's coming remembering that He has come, is coming, and will come again! Last week we talked about the hope we have through the lens of Tamar's story. This week we will look at a picture of peace through Rahab. Rahab shows us what is looks like to experience the peace of God and let down the rope in a city who built walls but still lived in deep fear. The question I am asking myself is what walls do I build instead of letting the rope down? These are the questions we are asking tomorrow:
Is it hard to take a step of faith? What makes it difficult?
Is it harder to keep peace with others or to stay in a state of internal peace?
Do you think they are related?
What walls do you put up instead of confronting your fear and letting the rope down?
Who in your life do you need to create peace with? Does letting your own walls down make that easier?
Below is our Youth schedule through the end of the year! Our Advent Series will be called "A picture of love." Each consecutive week we will look at a picture of hope, peace, joy and love through Jesus' genealogy. Teens will be split into teams to compete in games throughout the Advent season which will include a photograph competition each week of finding an actual picture of hope, peace, joy and love in your community. We will post these photos on the Band App and winners will be selected. The winning team for the entire Advent competition will receive a prize at the Christmas Party!

Stillnaz Youth Update 11.26.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Thanksgiving Week! I am thankful for each of you and the opportunity we have to be together during this season of our lives! Tonight we are entering our Advent series and we are talking about Tamar, who is in Jesus' genealogy. We are exploring how Tamar is a picture of hope for us as we think about what hope really is during the first week in Advent which starts Sunday! Disclaimer: Tamar's story is a bit scandalous; prostitution is part of her story, we will not be focusing on that but instead focusing on how scandalous sin meets scandalous grace. Let me know if you have any questions!

Stillnaz Youth Update 11.18.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Happy Monday! I am praising God today for the ways He chases us down. How He asks us for a cup of water and meets us where we are, even when we aren't looking for Him. He is always looking for us. Praise God for a love that speaks the truth but doesn't condemn, a love that names our past wounds so that we can receive healing, and a love that shows us when we least expect it. What a gift that last week at Ignite, Andrew preached on John 4 and yesterday morning Chaplain Mike also preached on John 4. The Spirit is moving and speaking.

Stillnaz Youth Update 11.12.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Tonight is Ignite! Woohoo! Andrew Workman is preaching, and I am really excited for the teens to hear him talk about Jesus' question, "May I have a drink of water?" Pray with me that our teens feel inspired and ready to take Jesus to everyone they know.
An important reminder that youth group hours are 6:00-8:30pm. We cannot have students dropped off before 6:00pm because we do not have youth workers available or the proper number of youth workers to supervise the teens. The only teens who are here before 6:00 are student volunteers! Thank you for understanding!
Some important announcements!!
SAGE is tomorrow night! Plan to meet at the church by 5:30pm or meet us at Providence Place at 6:00pm!
Gift card fundraiser information will be handed out tonight if your teen would like to participate! Refer to the email sent out yesterday for more information!
We will be having a high school game night on Friday, November 22nd from 7:00-9:00pm!
Finally, there is a new app called "Band." We are asking all youth to download the app and search for Stillnaz Youth and request to join! It is a closed group where we can communicate with each other!
Also, consider helping our youth group once a month by spending time with the little ones of our youth workers! I sent an email around last week! If you have any availability, please reach out!

Stillnaz Youth Update 11.5.24
It all begins with an idea.
Stillmeadow Families,
Good morning and happy election day!
I am struck today by what a privilege it is to be given the right to exercise our vote. It draws my attention this morning to those in other countries who do not have this opportunity. Today, I am praying for them as we get to make a choice that some do not. At the end of this election season, praise Jesus that we live in the unshakable Kingdom of God and tomorrow He is still King!
Tonight is What is Going on in the World which is our student led Tuesday, the first Tuesday of the month! And tonight, one of our teens is bringing a phenomenal word on studying scripture, its importance and practical ways to do it!
We will then get in groups and spend time discussing!
An important reminder that youth group hours are 6:00-8:30pm.
